A distinguished alumnus of Stanford University and Columbia Business School at Columbia University, Art J. Samberg has held several positions in the financial industry, in both executive and analyst roles. He currently manages his family office through Hawkes Financial, LLC in Katonah, New York, which he founded in 2009. Since Art Samberg established the the family office, he has invested in numerous venture and other stage companies, most of which are involved in the healthcare, information technology, and alternative energy sectors. Additionally, Mr. Samberg sits on the Board of Directors for Tri-Alpha Energy and Jetsuite, Inc.
Arthur J. Samberg worked for a decade as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of what was at one time the largest hedge fund in the world before starting Hawkes Financial. At Pequot Capital Management, Inc., which, at one time, managed more than $17 billion in funds during its peak in the early 2000s, Art Samberg provided executive oversight for more than 20 individual hedge funds at one point.
Furthermore, Arthur Samberg remains highly involved with the Columbia Business School. He donated $25 million to this Ivy League institution, and those funds went directly to the creation of 15 new professorships and several new positions in different academic departments at the school. In fact, Columbia University created the Arthur J. Samberg Institute for Teaching Excellence at Columbia Business School in 2002 because of Mr. Samberg's generous contribution. Mr. Samberg is one of the most successful businessmen to have graduated from this school, and his career spans some of the most extraordinary achievements in the investment management industry.
